Cranberry Pear Sauce

  • 2 cups fresh cranberries
  • 2 medium pears, peeled and diced
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons sorghum syrup, or maple syrup
  • 1/4-1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla


  1. In a medium saucepan combine cranberries, pears, water, sorghum syrup, ginger, cinnamon and vanilla. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer uncovered for 20 minutes or until the cranberries have popped and sauce is slightly thickened. Stir several times to prevent sticking. 

  2. Place the mixture into a blender, food processor, or high-speed blender and blend until smooth. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
