The importance of eating a healthy breakfast is probably something you’ve heard time and time again, but just exactly why is it so important? Food is essential for growth, energy and brain function; all of which are imperative to children. On hectic school mornings, it can be hard to create healthy foods that are quick and easy when preparing breakfast, which is why we love using Daisy Cottage Cheese! Cottage cheese is high in protein and calcium, making for a nutrition-packed meal that will fuel your children (and you) up all morning. It’s also a tasty food that everyone, including picky eaters, is sure to love. So, go ahead and try incorporating these non-traditional ingredients into your early morning meals to keep kids both happy and healthy!

Smoothies: Nut or seed butter, cottage cheese, cocnut oil, hemp hearts, oats, vegetables*, dark chocolate
Pancakes*: Cottage cheese, almond/coconut/oat flour, nut butter, flax/chia seeds, fruit*
Oatmeal/Overnight Oats: Nut or seed butter, milk*, cottage cheese, flax seeds, hemp hearts, fruit*
Eggs: Avocado, tofu, cottage cheese, vegetables
Breakfast Pudding: Chia seeds, cottage cheese, sorghum/hemp pudding, vanilla
*Milk: Many different types of milk are available, feel free to use whichever type you prefer.
*Vegetables: Celery, beets, carrots, sweet potato, spinach and kale are vegetable ideas that pair well with smoothies
*Fruit: Both fresh and frozen fruit are recommended. Avocados add creaminess and ripened bananas are sweeter and eliminate the need for added sugar.
* Pancakes: Make a double batch and freeze them for another day
